SAMHSA also offers a list of agencies that provide help for substance
abuse. This list includes web site addresses as well as contact

Where can I go to obtain information on TASC programs and facilities in
my city/state/area?
National TASC is not a treatment referral agency and cannot make specific
recommendations to individual treatment facilities. However, a list of
National TASC program members is provided under the agency directory in
our membership section.
What work does the National TASC office perform?
National TASC is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to promoting the
exchange of ideas, information and research concerning TASC agencies.
National TASC assists in developing professional competence in the
operation of TASC and related services. National TASC promotes
alternatives to incarceration and advocates on behalf of its membership on
a national basis. Recent activities include research, data analysis and
information to individuals, criminal justice professionals, academics, and
public and private agencies.
What kind of issues does National TASC address?
National TASC promotes a program model to reduce addiction driven by
crime. Areas of emphasis include:
* Linking federal, state, and local criminal justice systems to community
based treatment programs.
* Recognizing agencies, communities and individuals as critical resources
in managing large numbers of substance abusing offenders.
* Promoting the clinical use of science based interventions that enhance
mental health, abstinence, and lawful behavior of persons under justice
supervision.
* Supporting access to treatment for those involved in justice systems
including screening, assessment, case management, and support services.
* Restoring the rights of justice-involved individuals such as voting,
access to housing, education, and employment, upon successful completion
of supervision.
