  • Withdrawal Management – The Gateway clinical and nursing staff helps each patient manage his/her withdrawal symptoms with supervised detox. This helps the incoming patient overcome drug and alcohol cravings and proceed with rehab.
  • Residential Inpatient Treatment – This involves a stay at the Gateway Foundation treatment center, where patients master the sober lifestyle with a combination of therapy, group activities, wellness activities, meditation and daily responsibilities.
  • Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) – This covers the same ground, but the patient lives at home and comes to Gateway during the daytime for treatment. PHP is full-time treatment for the high-need patient with a stable home environment.
  • Outpatient Substance Use Treatment – Daytime treatment that focuses on drug addiction for people struggling with stimulants, opioids, depressants, hallucinogens and prescription painkillers.
  • Outpatient Alcoholism Treatment – Daytime treatment that focuses on alcohol addiction for people who drink constantly or engage in risky binge drinking.
  • Intensive Outpatient Program – Similar to PHP but with fewer daily hours. This is part-time treatment that allows the patient to maintain an active work and social life. Good for low-need patients or those who’ve already completed residential or PHP.
  • Sober Living Homes – Options for people who need help landing once they finish residential or outpatient rehab treatment. Sober houses are structured, drug-free, low-rent living quarters where recovering individuals can get their lives back on track.

2. Positive Sobriety Institute Alcohol & Drug Rehab Chicago – Addiction recovery treatment and counseling

  • Address: 142 E Ontario Street, Suite 1000, Chicago, IL 60611
  • Phone: 312-312-9000

The Positive Sobriety Institute offers drug and alcohol rehab treatment for people in the Chicago area who struggle with various types of addiction and mental health issues.

Programs

  • Alcohol Addiction – Treatment for people struggling with alcohol use disorder, which takes hold once a person drinks constantly and thinks about alcohol all day. Positive Sobriety helps patients cope without alcohol.
  • Drug Addiction – Treatment for people hooked on opioids, prescription drugs, stimulants (speed, meth, ecstasy), depressants (fentanyl, heroin) and hallucinogens.
  • Dual Diagnosis – Therapy that identifies the underlying issues of a patient’s addictive behavior. Most people abuse drugs or alcohol to cope with deep-seated issues that often stem from childhood grief or trauma. When patients come to terms with that, it’s easier to conquer addiction.
  • Prescription Drug Abuse – Provides alternatives for people who grow addicted to painkillers and anti-anxiety medication.
  • Addiction & Psychiatric Assessment – This is where doctors determine the intensity of the patient’s addiction and any co-occurring mental health issues that might feed his/her addictive behavior.
  • Holistic Therapies – Methods that treat the patient on all levels: mental, physical, emotional and spiritual.
  • Relapse Prevention – Helps patients stay on the sober track and resist recurring temptations.

  • IOP – Intensive Outpatient Program – Patients come to Symetria Chicago location (or one of the other Illinois facilities) for daytime treatment. IOP consists of counseling, wellness and sobriety lessons.
  • Unlimited Therapy – Patients get all the counseling they need at Symetria to work through the various issues (trauma, grief, depression, insecurity, stress, despondency) that spur drug addiction.
